Description
ROFUXA 500 is an oral antibiotic containing Cefuroxime Axetil, a broad-spectrum second-generation cephalosporin. It is effective against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including many β-lactamase–producing strains.
COMPOSITION
Each film-coated tablet contains:
- Cefuroxime Axetil IP … 500 mg
INDICATIONS
ROFUXA 500 is indicated for the treatment of the following infections:
- Upper respiratory tract infections: Otitis media, sinusitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis
- Lower respiratory tract infections: Acute and chronic bronchitis, pneumonia
- Genitourinary tract infections: Pyelonephritis, cystitis, urethritis, uncomplicated gonorrhea (urethritis and cervicitis)
- Skin and soft tissue infections: Furunculosis, pyoderma, impetigo
- Early Lyme disease: Including erythema marginatum
- Bone and joint infections
- Meningitis
- Septicemia
- Surgical prophylaxis: Abdominal, pelvic, orthopedic, cardiac, pulmonary, esophageal, and vascular procedures
MODE OF ACTION
Cefuroxime inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by blocking the transpeptidation process, leading to the formation of an imperfect cell wall and subsequent bacterial lysis and death.

Dosage should be based on the severity of infection, the causative organism, and patient response, or as directed by a Registered Medical Practitioner.

ROFUXA 500 Tablets are available in Alu-Alu strips of 10 tablets.
