INDICATIONS & ADMINISTRATION:

B-NUTRA 10% is indicated as adjunctive therapy for:

  • Offsetting nitrogen loss
  • Managing negative nitrogen balance in patients who:
    • Cannot or should not receive enteral nutrition
    • Have impaired gastrointestinal absorption of protein
    • Have increased metabolic demand (e.g., burns, trauma)

DOSAGE:

  • Typical amino acid dose: 0–1.5 g/kg/day
  • Adjusted based on clinical response and nutritional needs
  • Adequate calories (carbohydrates/fats) must be co-administered

Route of Administration:

  • Central Vein: Preferred for use with hypertonic dextrose in hypercatabolic or long-term TPN patients.
  • Peripheral Vein: Suitable when central access is not indicated; must be used with low dextrose concentrations ± fat emulsions.

Protein-Sparing Use:

Diluted solutions may be used in non-malnourished patients requiring nitrogen support.
